Success is pre-meditated
Ireland has an international reputation for exemplary standards in education in the fields of biomedical and pharmaceutical science. Ireland is home to the 9 of the top 10 pharmaceutical giants in the world including Pfizer, GlaxoKlineSmith, Merck, Eli Lilly, Genzyme, and over 120 local companies generating up to 50% of Irish exports. Ireland is now the largest net exporter of pharmaceuticals in the world.
Places at medical schools are limited in most countries and, for many, the chance to become a doctor is a dream beyond reach.
BIC Sligo offers an intensive Diploma in Pre-Medical Studies which guarantees direct entry to various medical schools to successful students. This programme is available both onsite (one academic year) in Ireland or by distance learning (self-paced). Successful students can go on to study at top medical schools such as the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland and St George University of Medicine.

Entry requirements for Medical Universities vary from institution to institution. Each higher education institution will have its own unique admission requirements and we advise that you check with your chosen institution to determine if you meet their entry requirements. The decision as to what courses should constitute Pre-Medical program requirements is not determined by BICSLIGO. For instance, not all medical universities accept Pre-Medical Diplomas that have been undertaken by distance learning.
Medical Universities consider each application on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the BICSligo Pre-Medical Advanced Diploma qualification, medical schools take into consideration a number of other factors including academic background, test scores, personal qualities, and intent. All these components are considered for entry, and although successful completion of the BICSligo Pre-Medical Advanced Diploma is highly recognised, the final decision for entry is at the discretion of the Medical School.
